We love to decorate our homes, both inside and out with natural greenery because they bring a celebratory ambience in a simple, natural way that engages all the senses. Here at Nicholson-Hardie Garden Center and Nursery, we stock an excellent selection of Christmas wreaths, garland and cut trees. We have beautiful, freshly cut Noble and Fraser fir trees in stock. These trees can be purchased at our Bluffview Garden Center or delivered to your home or office by calling (214) 357-4674 to schedule delivery. Nicholson-Hardie recommends using a quality tree preservative in the water supply for your freshly cut arrangements and evergreen trees. Be sure to make a one-inch cut before placing the tree in it's stand, and keep the reservoir filled with water, checking every few days. Needles will fall and scatter from a Christmas tree that has been allowed to dry out, and a dry tree is a very messy tree--not to mention, a dry tree can also easily catch fire. Fresh greenery spreads the heavenly scent and cheer of the Christmas tree into other areas of your home. Greens such as cedar, ivy, pine, fir and holly are good to use since they dry out slowly and hold their needles well. Hemlock, spruce, and most broadleaf evergreens can also be used, but they will last longer if they are used outdoors. Many people love the look of plain or decorated wreaths hung either indoors, outdoors or both. We have a variety of sizes to fit any door, entryway or window. Wreaths generally last longer outdoors because of the cooler temperatures. However, don't place the wreath between a glass storm door and your front door, since the area collects heat and will dry out your evergreen wreath quickly.Garland or evergreen roping is another classic technique for bringing the simple beauty and aroma of evergreens throughout your home. Our garlands can be cut to any size and are perfect for wrapping around stairway banisters, bookshelves, and fireplace mantels. And our table centerpieces make the perfect Christmas accent for dinner tables and coffee tables! Decorations will last the longest in a cool location, so try to avoid placing your evergreen decorations near a heat source like vents, fireplaces, or television sets. For wreaths, garland and other greenery that does not have a ready water supply, we recommend using "Wilt Pruf" or "Cloud Cover" as directed to help protect them from indoor and outdoor heat damage. Misting the back of your wreath with water every few days will keep the evergreens moist, especially if it is hung indoors. If the decoration is arranged in floral foam, keep the foam moist. With just a little attention, your decorations will last through the holidays and beyond. No Christmas season would be complete without the fragrance and beauty of evergreen wreaths and greens, and we pride ourselves on offering only the freshest available in our area. Stop by Nicholson-Hardie while selection is at its best and pick up the freshest greens in town today! |
